Science on the Hill is back this summer!
Antibiotics have been used to treat infections for over 80 years. However, now we have a major global crisis with microbes becoming resistant to available drugs. These antibiotic resistant ‘Superbugs' kill millions of people every year, yet antimicrobial resistance (AMR) remains an invisible threat. Come join us for a discussion on AMR, to hear about what researchers at Warwick are doing to combat this problem, and to learn how you can help keep our antibiotics working.
Join the team from Warwick Medical School and the School of Life Sciences for five exciting talks!
Introduction to AMR - Professor Meera Unnikrishnan
Beyond antibiotics: Phage Therapy for Sustainable Crop Protection - Dr Mojgan Rabiey
Amp it Up! Detecting Antimicrobial Resistance Using Bioelectricity - Tudor Onose
The Great Wall of Pneumonia - New Ways to Knock it Down - Dr Nic Briggs
How Does Antimicrobial Resistance Affect us all When We Become Unwell, a Doctor and Patient Perspective - Dr Steve Montgomery-Laird
Doors open at 5:30pm and light refreshments will be provided. Talks begin at 6:00pm.
Please note the recommended age for this event is 14+ and all under-18s must be accompanied by an adult.
This event is organised by the School of Life Sciences and Warwick Medical School and shared by Resonate.
