Sequencing the code of life

Sequencing is having a radical impact on science, health care, and our understanding of life. How does DNA sequencing work? Where is this technology going? What are we able to learn? Does it change our understanding of the past? What does it hold for the future? Is it going to change our lives? Join us for an exciting evening of talks, puzzles, and discussion exploring how sequencing is being used in current research.

Hear talks from Laura Baxter, Robin Allaby and Sascha Ott discussing “The Sequencing Revolution”, “Reconstructing the Past Using Environmental DNA Through the Ages” and “Emerging Frontiers of Sequencing”.

We’ll also have exciting demonstrations from Oxford Nanopore - watch DNA sequencing happening in real-time, and understand how the technology is being used for real-world impact, such as breaking the world record for the world’s fastest genome sequence, and sequencing in space!

Doors open at 6:00pm and light refreshments will be provided.
