Moth Survey

  • Arthur Vick Residences University of Warwick, Coventry CV4 7ES United Kingdom (map)

This event is part of the Warwick at Night event series to celebrate the University’s 60th anniversary.

It is a common misconception that moths are all dull looking and boring. In fact, they can be just as colourful as butterflies and they are rather fascinating!

Unfortunately, many moth species are in decline in the UK. This trend is significant because moths are not only excellent indicator species of environmental health but they are also a vital part of the food chain and many species, including birds and bats, rely on them.

Join University of Warwick’s Environmental Sustainability team and moth enthusiast Dan Hall for our next moth survey. Participants will learn about the survey methodology and equipment used, the importance of species surveys, how to ID moths and how to use citizen science to contribute to national species monitoring schemes.

This is a great chance for members of the local community, along with Warwick staff and students, to get involved!

This event is organised by the Environmental Sustainability team at University of Warwick and Shared By Resonate.
