ESRC Festival of Social Science: Community Voice

Join University of Warwick academics and the members of the public they have collaborated with for an evening that showcases the importance of community voice for impactful research.

Talks will convey the diverse perspectives of academics and public contributors who work together to draw lived experience into meaningful research. We’ll hear from partnerships that look to improve mental wellbeing in the construction industry, and those focused on improving how we – the public – request help and how emergency services respond, as well as the innovative video technology that is transforming the landscape of emergency care.

Each talk will be followed by a short Q&A session allowing you to engage with our speakers and share your thoughts.

A cold buffet will be provided, and there is a bar on site to purchase beverages.

 

18:00 – 18:15: Arrival (and nibbles!)

18:15 – 19:00: Dr Carla Toro & collaborator – Mental Wellbeing in the Construction Industry + Q&A

19:00 – 19:30: Interval

19:30 – 20:15: Professor Jo Angouri – Behind the Siren: The daily reality of Emergency Care + Q&A

20:15 – 20:30: Final conversations

During this event, Behind the Siren will go live to a research team on the ground in Wales, currently training with the emergency services professionals, to meet the team, hear more about their work together and get a first glimpse at the cutting-edge technology they are developing to improve emergency care responses - offering an exciting opportunity with the whole team for Q&A:  Join us to ask about the future of emergency care; the ways in which access to specialist training is technology enhance, the role of different critical care professionals, and how we (the public) can work better with critical care teams
