Planting Roots Festival

An event to spark curiosity, ignite creativity, and empower the younger generation as guardians of the environment.

There was so much to see and do at Planting Roots, which took place on the 4th November 2023. Some attendees got creative, building a sustainable junk sculpture town and drawing what they imagine the future will look like. University of Warwick researchers ran interactive stalls about new breeds of bean grown in Warwickshire and the colourful roots that grow underground. Children and adults alike asked incredible questions at our family discussion all about plastic. Finally, we were treated to two captivating performances of "Plastic Drastic Fantastic" by Akademi, combining South Asian dance with thought-provoking narratives on plastic.

‘Planting Roots’ was a collaboration between Warwick Arts Centre, Warwick Institute of Engagement and Foleshill Community Centre, inspired by the centre’s new medicinal garden. More information about the Planting Roots events that took place at Foleshill Community Centre coming soon!
