An Evening with Baroness Catherine Ashton

On the 9th November 2023, we were delighted to host Catherine Ashton, Chancellor of University of Warwick, to celebrate her new book.

From 2009 to 2014, Cathy Ashton was the EU’s first High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security and her book, ‘And then what? Stories of 21st Century Diplomacy’ reveals what goes on in the seemingly secret world of diplomacy. Professor Özlem Atikcan, from the Department of Politics and International Studies, interviewed Cathy Ashton and we were instantly whisked away to international locations through Cathy’s stories of negotiation and debate.

The interview was followed by drinks and nibbles, where attendees had the chance to chat with Cathy and get a copy of their book signed. Thank you Kenilworth Books for bringing your pop up shop!

This event is part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science 2023 and was made possible thanks to funding from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), which is part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI)
